To vote or not to Vote Noynoy Aquino?

27 02 2010

Should we Vote NONOY AQUINO for President ? ( because he is Ninoy & Cory’s Son ).

By all indications, he is indeed one damn good person, But really, is one damn good person what we need right now? Is nice enough to take us out of the mess we are in? Is his amiable personality enough to gloss over the fact that he has spent most of his years in Congress doing, well, not much, and that, just like the lot of them, he is a politician taking advantage of this singular opportunity – of all things, his mother’s death – to be president?

The bigger man, the wiser man, the one damn good person would, after seeing the multitude of mourners outpouring their devotion for his mother, have declined the temptation to be goaded into running; in Tagalog, hindi siya magpapabuyo. Certainly, a good man would have at least waited a little longer and not announced his candidacy right after the ritualistic 40 days after the passing of his mother, making it seem like he was just obliged to comply with Filipino tradition so as not to look insensitive, but at the same time that he couldn’t wait a day more since he’s thrown his hat in the race too late and must thus make up for lost time.

For in his years of public service, in his whole life, really, can Noynoy honestly say he thinks himself competent enough to be president? Or is it more likely that the crowd at his mother’s wake, and his slew of very able advisers – pardon the digression, but Drilon, Abad, which side are you on lately? – emboldened him into that way of thinking? While in his “period of discernment”, I was hoping that for at least once in my life, I would witness a true statesman, selfless, wise, like the previous generation witnessed Ninoy. He would’ve been that statesman had he declined, knowing he knows nothing and being truly wise for it. Alas, the blinding allure of power, the buoying wave of his mother’s (not even his own) supporters, was too strong to resist. If this doesn’t reek of political opportunism, I don’t know what does.

I agree, we shouldn’t vote purely on competence. But that shouldn’t stop experience from reminding us what happens if we vote for an incompetent president. What happens is we vote a hundred thousand advisers with him/her. What happens is after three years in office, we try to take him/her out again, realizing we made a mistake. If we’re unsuccessful, we call it a coup attempt. If we’re successful, we call it Edsa Dos. What happens is we pin our hopes on another popular icon, another shining symbol, without realizing that we’re being f*cked by the same people over and over again.

He may not be like his mother, or he might excessively pale in comparison to his father but he had the silent mystery that disarms even the most arduous critic.

Even so I hope that he has answers for the following:

1. The Reproductive health bill.

2. The Hacienda Luisita tragedy.

3. The massive cheating to be done this upcoming elections.

4. The possibility of a failure of elections.

5. What he would do if he wins the elections would he prosecute the former President?

6. His stance on globalization.

7. The national debt which his mother so proudly wanted to pay for at the expense of our economy.

8. The question of the muslim south.

9. His stand on the NDF.

10. His capacity to create jobs and how he would address the problem of brain drain.

***************************************************************

I hope that when we choose who to vote for President, we must not look at what did his/her parents have done to this country, but understanding and discerning what will be the country’s future if we  lay it down into the hands of a certain candidate.

The Late Cory Aquino, Not a Hero!

24 02 2010

Contrary to what people think, the late Corazon ( Cory ) Aquino was not a hero. Did she ever made a change in the Philippine Economy after putting the responsibility of paying the marcos’ debt from the WORLD BANK into the country’s hands?

This blog is intended not to forsake this Country’s late “Saint of Democracy” , But trying to infuse information to the Filipinos that we are all mis-informed. Cory was the president who gave back to the Filipinos the democracy that they’ve ever wanted after suffering from the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.

here are some articles that bloggers wrote:

Article from: ( http://tubagbohol.mikeligalig.com)

“Sometime towards 1980, the President of World Bank reported that the Philippines could not anymore pay its debt.  This prompted the US to heed the calls to replace its favorite ally, Marcos.  So the arrangements were made.  Would one really believe Marcos was moved out and Cory was placed in Malacanang without the nod of the US?  Who plucked Marcos out of Malacanang that fateful day of  February 1986? (Give the correct answer here.)  When finally Cory was made President, she could have done the most important thing she could do to be a HERO to us.  It was only her who had the opportunity not to acknowledge the huge debt which Marcos accumulated during the Martial Law years.  We could have started with a new balance in our financial sheets and pushed our economy without the burden of the debt curse.  But how could she say no to the powers that put her in trust of Malacanang?  Cory bowed down to the pressure of the Brent Woods Institutions (the World Bank and the IMF).  She acknowledged the Marcos Loans and vowed to pay them.  Furthermore, she also agreed to at least two of their demands under the Structural Adjustment Program, so we had the devolution/decentralization of our government and the CARP.  So that the readers would know… CARP and the devolution were among the demands of World Bank under the Aquino administration in order for the Philippines to be granted a Loan… So, with weak government institutions, we were decentralized and our land capital divided.  Twenty years after the new constitution, look at how the Philippines economy fared in Asia.  Democracy?  Even if it was not Cory, the US could still put in someone to replace Marcos.  It was not because of Democracy, but because we should pay our debt to the rich Americans thru the World Bank/IMF.  Should Cory be a hero?  No, she is not a hero.”

How to SURVIVE HEART ATTACK when You’re alone

11 02 2010

A very simple and Helpful way to  Survive Heart attack.  Let’s say it’s 6:15pm and you’re driving home (alone of course)
after an unusually hard day on the job or in school. You’re really
tired, and frustrated…

WHAT TO DO?

You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that conducted the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself!!!

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE?

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing conscious

WHAT TO DO?

ANSWER:

DO NOT PANIC, BUT START COUGHING REPEATEDLY AND VERY VIGOROUSLY.

A DEEP BREATH SHOULD BE TAKEN BEFORE EACH COUGH, THE COUGH MUST BE DEEP AND PROLONGED, AS WHEN PRODUCING SPUTUM FROM DEEP INSIDE THE CHEST.

A BREATH AND A COUGH MUST BE REPEATED ABOUT EVERY TWO SECONDS WITHOUT LET-UP UNTIL HELP ARRIVES, OR UNTIL THE HEART IS FELT TO BE BEATING NORMALLY AGAIN.

DEEP BREATHS GET OXYGEN INTO THE LUNGS AND COUGHING MOVEMENTS SQUEEZING THE HEART AND KEEP THE BLOOD CIRCULATING. THE SQUEEZING PRESSURE ON THE HEART ALSO HELPS IT REGAIN NORMAL RHYTHM. IN THIS WAY, HEART ATTACK VICTIMS CAN GET TO A HOSPITAL.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEAT INJURIES

8 02 2010
  1. <meta name=”mverify” content=”ab261cae11877bc9a0f8e02be50″ />
  2. I. BURNS: When you burn part of your body with hot cooking utensils, steam or fire, etc.:

immediately place the injured body part in cool water, or cover with a cooling

cover (keep pouring cold water and fanning the cover); do it as long as it hurts.

Burns to the face, nose, mouth can cause swelling that can close the airway and kill.

  1. II. HYPERTHERMIA: When your body starts absorbing and/or making more heat than it

Can lose by sweating, evaporation/convection, radiation or conduction.

This overheating causes brain swelling, tissue breakdown and conditions in your

body incompatible with the chemical/enzyme reactions necessary for life.

  1. III. KINDS OF HYPERTHERMIA CONDITIONS THAT CAN HURT YOU:
    1. A. Heat Cramps: Cause;  excessive muscle contractions and excessive water loss

without concomitant salt intake to replace salt loss.

Signs /Symptoms:  spasmodic contraction of the leg muscles, long arm muscles

and abdominal wall muscle for 15 minutes to a few days.

Treatment:  gentle stretching of the affected muscle group, slight increase in salt

intake (a extra shake or pinch of salt per meal) and increase water.

  1. B. Heat Exhaustion: Cause;  excessive skin vasodilation (blood vessels flow with

more blood), decreased blood flow to brain, increased

fluid loss.

Signs/Symptoms:   nausea, vomiting, brief loss of consciousness, headache,

dizziness, variable sweating and skin paleness, rectal tem-

perature can range from 39-40 degrees(102-103 degrees F),

skin temperature can be cool, decreased urine output.

Treatment:  GET OUT OF THE SUN, lay down, elevate feet, give water and

fluids, and a small amount of salt, strip off thick-waterproof

clothing, fan the patient; DO NOT ALLOW THE PATIENT TO

SHIVER!! (THIS PRODUCES MORE INTERNAL BODY HEAT)

If the temperature climbs above 40 degrees C after doing the

above, then the patient needs aggressive cooling measures:

STRIP DOWN AND SPRAY WITH WATER AND FAN HARD

TYLENOL and intravenous Normal Saline may be needed.

  1. C. Heat Stroke/“Sun stroke”:  FAILURE OF THE BODY’S COOLING SYSTEM

Cause:  excessive fluid and salt loss, inability to cool off increasing body heat

Signs/Symptoms:  initially excessive sweating, mental status changesloss of

consciousness, convulsions; THEN HOT, DRY, RED SKIN,

increased pulse/respirations, pupils dilated and unresponsive.

Rectal Temperature:  40 degrees C (104 degrees F) or higher.

Treatment:  GET OUT OF THE SUN NOW!  START COOLING NOW!

Strip down, spray with water and fan vigorously!!  Elevate feet!

Watch the AIRWAY. Watch for vomiting.  Immerse body in cool,

shallow water if possible.  Watch if the temperature decreases to

102 degrees F (39 degrees C), then slow down the cooling to prevent

hypothermia (shivering is a sign that you are cooling down too fast.)

Watch for: REBOUND TEMPERATURE RISE (3-4 Hours later.)

Aspirin is not effective and can increase bleeding disorders in body.

Try tylenol (acetaminophen) instead.  Unconsciousness for 2 hours

Is a poor prognostic sign.

Referral to a capable hospital is essential for medical follow-up.

NOTE:  In the field you can not tell between late heat exhaustion and early stroke.

WHY TRUTH?

4 02 2010
Why truth | does it matter | melvenko.com

truth | melvenko

On this Blog, I want to talk about “Why Truth?” Why do we need to know truth? What is Truth?

I’ve heard it many times  that “truth will set us free” and that sounds biblical. What else do you say about truth?

One friend of mine said “we need the truth coz its one that can give us light, the world would be so much darker if we’re living in lies and deceit“.

First, We have to understand/ examine what does truth means.

“What is truth?” That is the question every human being will at one time or another have to face, and answer. Those who choose to face it in this lifetime, and who come to God for the answer, will be set free by the truth, and eventually gain everlasting life. Those who do not choose to come to grips with this question, and those who go to the wrong source for the answer, will remain in bondage. And one day they will stand face to face with The Answer, Jesus Christ, who will righteously judge them. How each of us relates to truth determines not only our everlasting destiny, but also the quality of our life now.- www.truthortradition.com

What do you say about TRUTH?
